GIRLS4SCIENCE
ILIPA volunteers participate in judging the final presentations of the members of the Girls4Science program across the Chicago area.
ILIPA is proud to partner with Girls 4 Science this year for multiple programs being planned this year. Volunteers will participate in judging the final presentations of the members of the Girls4Science program across the Chicago area in May 2026.
This has been a tradition with ILIPA in the past since 2016, when Aseet Patel and Meggan Duffy started the partnership as part of CIPA (Chicago Intellectual Property Alliance). Below are some past even pictures.
After the judging was completed, the volunteers gave the girls some information about intellectual property–patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and trademarks–pointing out which of the various regimes might be important to them in relation to their projects and presentations.
The volunteers also provided a Patent fact sheet that was developed by CIPA (now ILIPA) volunteers for the CPS Science Fair and updated by Aseet specifically for the Girls4Science project participants.
Teri Small (Quarles & Brady) and Prof. Mickie Piatt (Chicago-Kent College of Law) judged the presentations at Malcolm X and made the award presentation to the winning team as shown in the photo. Both fielded numerous questions from the audience and enjoyed the interaction with the instructors, the guests, and the students themselves – a very worthwhile program in Chicago!
